- I research history and then write about it – thumping great stories that make good books for a living, and historical oddities, obscurities and eccentricites for fun. I've created this blog to showcase both these worlds. When there's a new book on the stocks, I'll post background information and some offshoots of my research here. The rest of the time, I'll be writing about things that interest me – but since my interests range throughout the whole of history, you shouldn't be too bored. Just remember: however incredible or strange the posts may get, they're always based solidly on my own research – and I always name my sources.
